Enjoy an extra-special 4-night cruise aboard one of our excellent river vessels, the Century Sky, with the benefit of cruising upstream having the highlights towards the end of the cruise and spending a night longer on board, making it altogether a much better and more relaxing experience. The tour further benefits from a visit to Chengdu where you will see the famous Giant Panda Research Centre and learn more about these amazing animals.

Day 1
London - Beijing

Depart London Heathrow at around 1630 on the British Airways non-stop flight to Beijing.

Day 2
Beijing3 nights

Arrive Beijing and transfer to the Shangri La Traders Hotel for 3 nights. Afternoon visit to the quaint hutong quarter by Lake Houhai. Enjoy a welcome dinner. (D)

Day 3
Beijing

This morning visit the Ming-era Temple of Heaven. Drive north to the less-crowded and more scenic part of the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Traditional Peking Duck dinner. (BLD)

Day 4
Beijing

Full day visit to the magnificent Forbidden City, situated just opposite the vast Tiananmen Square, and continue to the beautiful Summer Palace. After dinner there is an optional Beijing Opera performance. (BLD)

Day 5
Beijing - Xian2 nights

Visit the Lama and Confucius Temples before taking a bullet train to Xian. Stay at the Grand New World Hotel for 2 nights. (B)

Day 6
Xian

Visit to the world-renowned Terracotta Army. Continue to the Grand Mosque, lively Muslim quarter and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Optional Tang-era music and dance dinner show in the evening. (BL)

Day 7
Xian - Shanghai2 nights

Visit the Ming City Wall before flying to Shanghai and the Central Hotel. Visit the Bund before a cruise on the Huangpu River to admire the beautifully illuminated Bund and Pudong District. (BD)

Day 8
Shanghai

Visit the Yuyuan Garden and the old Chinese quarter with its colourful bazaar. Enjoy a ‘dim sum’ lunch, then continue to the Oriental Pearl Tower and admire the views form the observation decks. In the evening explore Shanghai's fascinating food stalls on a night street snack food adventure. See vendors offering snacks such as steamed garlic scallops, spicy crayfish and fried beancurd. (BL)

Day 9
Shanghai - Yangtze Cruise 4 nights

Fly to Yichang and board the Victoria Selina for your unforgettable 4-night cruise along the Yangtze River. (BD)

Day 10
Yangtze Cruise

Sail through Xiling Gorge. Afternoon excursion to the Three Gorges Dam site, followed by sailing through the enormous Three Gorges Dam Ship locks. Evening Captain’s welcome dinner. (BLD)

Day 11
Yangtze Cruise

Sail through Wu gorge, 44km long with its peaks rising to dizzying heights above the river. Visit the Shennong Stream or the Lesser Three Gorges and admire the beauty of its narrow gorges. (Subject to river conditions). Sail through the shortest and narrowest gorge, Qutang gorge (8km). Optional afternoon tour to White Emperor City. (BLD)

Day 12
Yangtze Cruise

Morning excursion to the Shibaozhai Pagoda. Afternoon optional excursion to Fengdu, the “City of Ghosts”. Captain’s farewell banquet. (BLD)

Day 13
Chongqing - Chengdu 1 night

Disembark in Chongqing and take the train to Chengdu. Transfer to the Tibet Hotel. Visit the People’s Park. Enjoy a traditional dinner of Sichuan hotpot. Optional evening Sichuan Opera performance. (BD)

Day 14
Chengdu - Guilin1 night

Morning visit to the Giant Panda Research Centre. Visit Jinli, the Tibetan Quarter and the Shu Brocade institute. Fly to Guilin and stay at the Bravo Hotel. (B)

Day 15
Yangshuo2 nights

Take the magical Li River cruise to Yangshuo. Browse through Yangshuo's colourful shops and visit scenic Gaotian township. Evening optional son et lumiere show. Stay at the Yangshuo Resort for 2 nights. (BLD)

Day 16
Yangshuo

Explore the countryside around Yangshuo, passing through villages to the Yulong River. Visit a farmer's house and continue to Juxian village. Afternoon at leisure. (BL)

Day 17
Guilin- Hong Kong - London

Return to Guilin, take the train to Shenzhen and drive onwards to Hong Kong. Homeward British Airways flight to London arriving the following morning at around 0445 (Day 18). (B)

Over looking the Ronghu Lake, the Guilin Bravo Hotel has an intimate atmosphere and is close to night markets and shops. Spacious guest rooms and suites are equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, safety deposit box, free internet access, IDD telephone, TV and mini bar.  The Patio Café is open 24 hours and serves Western and Asian cuisine.  Various provincial Chinese cuisines are available from the Lijiang Restaurant.  Live entertainment is available from the lobby bar in the evening.  The hotel also has a small outdoor pool.

Victoria Cruises

Large fleet and expert crew
Victoria Cruises own and operate one of the Yangtze’s largest five-star fleet which are regularly refurbished and upgraded.  There are seven ships, the Victoria Anna, Grace, Jenna, Katarina, Lianna, Selina and Sophia, each managed by an experienced western cruise director supported by a team of knowledgeable river guides and a well-trained, multi-lingual crew. Guests may attend lectures on the Yangtze, Chinese history, culture and traditional medicine. Calligraphy, painting and Tai Chi lessons are also available.

Cuisine
Each Victoria cruise ship features a Dynasty Dining Room where buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner are served whilst the captain’s farewell dinner will be a grander sit down banquet.  All vessels also boast an A La Carte Restaurant and both Western and Chinese cuisine is served on board. Superior cabin guests can book the A La Carte Restaurant at a supplement of USD 45 per meal, and enjoy exquisite dining in an intimate setting.

Facilities on board
The signature style of all Victoria’s ships is one of luxury and elegance with Asian accents. Tastefully-appointed cabins, striking atriums and immaculate public rooms and polished woods create a delightful ambience. The open sun deck has 360-degree views and cabins have wide panoramic windows. Surprisingly, all cabins also have a bathtub as well as shower unit, so you can enjoy a good soak after some exciting sightseeing. There is also a beauty salon, clinic, fitness room, mini-spa, reading room, gift shop and a spacious lounge for lectures and performances, as well as full air conditioning, internet access and BBC channels.
