In Rajasthan, all the flamboyance and glamour of India seem to be compressed into a single region. With its dramatic scenery, its brilliant colours, its spectacular palaces and its picturesque ruins, the "Land of Princes" is an intense and often overwhelming experience. To get a real flavour of Rajasthan we not only visit palaces and forts, we stay in them. The accommodation includes a number of heritage properties, sometimes former homes of the Maharajas, which have been converted into atmospheric hotels. In designing this itinerary we have endeavoured to offer something extra at each destination while maintaining an unhurried pace.

In the Shekhawati region visit both Nawalgarh and Dundload with their outstanding painted havelis. In Jaisalmer we include the remarkable lake of Gadi Sagar and a sunset visit to the sand dunes at Khuri. We have also arranged fascinating "village safaris" where you have the opportunity to see rural life at close quarters and meet the locals.
