This fascinating tour explores some of China’s most interesting cities by train. The extensive rail network in China is fast, modern, and comfortable and offers a unique way to see this intriguing country. We start our journey in Beijing and through many beautiful destinations, we end our journey in the popular city of Chengdu, visiting the renowned Panda Research Base. For anyone who enjoys train travel this tour is not to be missed!

Morning visit to the Forbidden City, the complex of imperial palaces which were home to the Emperors for over 500 years. Grand halls and courtyards gradually give way to more intimate domestic quarters, giving a glimpse into the pampered isolation of the Emperors. Drive north to the less- crowded and more scenic part of the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Afternoon visit to the Ming- era Temple of Heaven where the Emperors performed annual sacrificial rituals for good harvests. Enjoy a Peking Duck dinner. (BLD)
Take the train to Tianjin and transfer to the Pan Pacific Tianjin Hotel. Enjoy a tour of the city and its many sights including the impressive Tianjin eye, the European concessions area and Tianjin culture street. In the evening enjoy a dinner at the famous Nanshi food market. (BLD)
Board your train this morning for the journey to Nanjing and transfer to the Crowne Plaza Nanjing Jiangning for a 2 night stay. (BD)

This morning take a ride the Yangtze river cableway for comprehensive views of the city clinging to the cliffs of the river. Transfer to the station to take the train to the neighbouring city of Chengdu. Upon arrival transfer to the M Hotel Chengdu. Afternoon visit to the People’s Park to join in one of Chengdu’s favourite pastimes, drinking tea. Visit Jinli old quarter and take dinner in a local restaurant. (BLD)
